Drake, Francis Samuel 1728-1789

Baronet of Prospect, Devon, Rear Admiral of the Red and Commissioner of the Navy. Visited Deal freqnently, married a local girl and buried in St Leonard's Churchyard. He was 5th generation nephew of Sir Francis Drake, the famous Elizabethan Explorer etc. Like his predecessor he had an illustrious career in the Navy, rising through the ranks and earning his position. During his time, Deal was a major port and he would have been in the area for long periods. He is buried with his first wife in St Leonard's Church yard.
