Courses

We run sponsored Adult short courses in various aspects of researching local history. We have run several
LOCAL HISTORY TOPICS courses, around 8 sessions for £50.00. Our tutor
Maureen Criddle has many years and a degree in this field.

We have also run 4 consecutive years of RESEARCHING LOCAL HISTORY The last one is drawing to a close. The group has been covering the Restoration period to 1750 with Deal and Upper Deal as its focus. This ran on occasional Thursday afternoons 1.45pm to 3.45pm with tutoring by Maureen Criddle during a 6 to 8 month period. Group visits to archive centres have been arranged.

Previous courses run by the group were:
Researching Local History 1750-1837 ran from Sept 2010 to July 2011.
Local History Topics ran in Spring 2011.

Exhibitions

A free Exhibition was held at Astor Community Theatre on Saturday 17th December and Sunday 18th December 10am to 4pm. Group members were on on hand with archive material to answer queries.

A small exhibition is running at the Landmark Centre, High St, Deal available whenever the centre is open.

Open Meetings

An open meeting on an evening to be arranged will take place at the Town Hall.

First Open meeting was 22nd March at the Astor Community Theatre. We will need a bigger space!

First AGM was on October 24th 2011
